Bentley’s Continental Supersports Convertible made its official public driving debut at the 2010 Goodwood Festival of Speed on the weekend. With several charging runs up the famous driveway, it proved to be quite the hustler when it comes to on-track agility and overall driving performance.
Throughout the weekend, the Supersports Convertible – with its top speed of 325km/h and 0-100km/h time of 4.1 seconds – was driven by racing legend and well-known Bentley boy, Derek bell. He used his extensive knowledge of the 1.86km hill climb stint to explore and exhibit the car’s limits.
The Supersports Convertible was joined in the supercar paddock by its equally powerfully but slightly less expensive coupe stablemate – the 463kW Continental Supersports Coupe – which returned to Goodwood after making its own debut in 2009.
Whilst Bentley’s flying Supersports models raced up the hill, there was also an opportunity for spectators to catch a glimpse of the marque’s new luxury flagship, the Mulsanne, at this year’s festival.
Over 170 hours – almost half of the entire build process – goes into handcrafting the Mulsanne’s luxurious interior which combines the traditional wood veneers and leather hides Bentley is renowned for with in-car entertainment technology offering 2200 Watts worth of Naim Audio stimulation.
